White houses tumble down to turquoise water, a medieval castle rises above a harbour full of yachts, and in the evening the waterfront fills with music and lights: that is why Bodrum is called the Turkish Ibiza. People come for gulet trips around the islands, windy beaches for windsurfing and quiet pine-fringed bays. Citizens of Germany, the UK and most EU countries need no visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days; direct flights from major European cities take around 3–4 hours; the season runs from May to October.

Which Bodrum hotels to choose by area?
Bodrum is not one town but a chain of bays around a peninsula. The far bays are up to 35 km from the centre, and the wrong area can easily turn your holiday into daily taxi rides.
Bodrum centre — the castle, the waterfront promenade, the yacht port, restaurants and nightlife. Beaches are small and often pebbly, and nights are loud. Examples include La Quinta by Wyndham Bodrum and Costa Viva Bodrum — a short walk from Bar Street and the town beach, about a kilometre from the castle. For young people, couples and anyone who wants everything within walking distance.
Gümbet — one of the few sandy beaches on the peninsula. Banana rides, water-skiing, parasailing, bars and evening parties. Close to the centre, but crowded and loud in season. For groups of friends and fans of an active beach.
Bitez — a long sand-and-pebble beach with a gentle slope into the sea, wind for windsurfing and kitesurfing, lots of greenery and restaurants. Calmer than Gümbet, with less nightlife. For families with children and surfers.
Torba — a sheltered bay 10–12 km from the centre, pine trees right down to the water, a family atmosphere. This is where the big all-inclusive resorts are: The Norm Collection Door'A, The Plaza Bodrum, Duja Bodrum by La Blanche, DoubleTree by Hilton Işıl Club. For families with children.
Kızılağaç — the bay next to Torba. Home to TUI Magic Life Bodrum, an adults-only hotel for guests aged 16 and over. For couples who want peace without kids' entertainment.
Yalıkavak — the most expensive part of the peninsula: a marina for superyachts, fashionable restaurants, well-kept private beaches. The Bodrum EDITION sits right on Yalıkavak Bay, with a spa, hammam and salt room. Adabükü — Bodrum's most secluded bays, 25–35 km from the centre, with almost no infrastructure. Home to Le Méridien Bodrum Beach Resort 5★ — more on it below.
How much do Bodrum hotels cost in 2026?
Guide prices per room for two per night:
3★ in the centre, Gümbet or Bitez — from €50–80;
4–5★ all-inclusive in Torba and Bitez — €150–400;
luxury in Yalıkavak, Göltürkbükü, Adabükü — €300–700 and more.
Prices peak in July and August. In September the sea is still warm, there are noticeably fewer people, and hotels lower their rates. Early booking (January–March) lets you lock in a price in advance.

How to combine a Bodrum holiday with a hair transplant or a cruise?

How not to spend an all-inclusive holiday in your room? A doctor's take
I am a gastroenterologist, and I know the main medical problem of resort holidays well. It isn't sunstroke or jellyfish — it's a gut infection, so-called travellers' diarrhoea. According to the CDC, it is the most predictable travel-related illness.
Let me start with an inconvenient truth. Hygiene in the hotel kitchen is beyond a traveller's control, and research shows that food hygiene advice to travellers on its own may not reduce the risk. The kitchen decides: where staff are trained in food handling, travellers fall ill less often. So the most important step happens before the trip — choosing a hotel without repeated guest complaints about stomach problems.
There are things you can do on site, too.
Wash your hands with soap before eating. Especially after the beach, the pool and lift handrails. Of all the advice here, this is the best supported.
Hot food should be hot. Choose dishes cooked in front of you or kept on a heater. The riskiest items on a buffet are those that have sat at room temperature for a long time: mayonnaise salads, sauces, seafood, cream desserts. Bacteria multiply quickly in the warmth.
Fruit you can peel. Watermelon, melon, bananas and oranges are safer than sliced fruit that has been lying on ice for hours.
And separately about heat, the second common resort problem.
Alcohol plus heat is a bad combination. All-inclusive tempts you to drink all day, and alcohol dehydrates. In the sun this is a direct route to heatstroke, especially for people over 60 and those with high blood pressure. For every glass, drink a glass of water.
Children overheat faster than adults. From 11:00 to 16:00 — shade, a hat and water.
Get insurance before you fly, not after. Healthcare in Turkey is of a good standard, but expensive for a tourist without a policy. Bodrum has a hospital of the Acıbadem network, with which we have a direct contract.
My conclusion as a doctor: your Bodrum holiday depends not on the number of stars but on three things — a hotel with a good kitchen, clean hands and insurance in your pocket. The Aegean Sea will do the rest.

a "private beach" that turns out to be a concrete platform or a public beach;
"all-inclusive" where the bar is open only a few hours a day;
repeated reviews about guests' stomach problems — for a gastroenterologist, this is the biggest red flag;
a hotel far from the beach with a shuttle only a couple of times a day.
How can I reduce the risk of a gut infection at an all-inclusive hotel?
The risk can't be eliminated completely: a lot depends on kitchen hygiene, so the key is choosing a hotel without repeated guest complaints about stomach problems. You can lower the risk yourself by washing your hands with soap before eating, choosing hot dishes, and being careful with mayonnaise salads and cream desserts that have been sitting on the buffet for a long time.
